The USCA “Best of Local Business” Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Kaiser Permanente Wins Four eHealthcare Leadership Awards

(Oakland, CA) — Kaiser Permanente recently received one of the first eHealthcare Organizational Commitment awards for its use of the Internet and technology to support its commitment to total health. The health care organization provides easy and convenient online tools and information to help members choose a health plan that meets their individual needs and then manage their health through My Health Manager on kp.org.

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards received more than 1,200 entries in 2011 and websites were rated on Internet excellence and how they compare to similar websites in their group classification. The awards are sponsored by Strategic Health Care Communications, an organization that supplies marketing, communications and business development information to health care organizations through its two publications, Strategic Health Care Marketing and eHealthcare Strategy & Trends.

The Organizational Commitment award was one of four top eHealthcare Leadership Awards Kaiser Permanente received. The awards distinguish health care websites that best support business objectives.

Propane Wins Top Honors at 2011 Interactive Media Awards

(New York, NY) – May 20, 2011 – The Interactive Media Council (IMA) recognized Propane Studio for outstanding design and production of the Kaiser Permanente Federal Employees Enrollment Center website. The judging consisted of various criteria including design, usability, innovation in technical features and content.

Men's Wearhouse Brings Localized Social Media to Prom

(San Francisco, CA) – April 29, 2009 – Men's Wearhouse launched VirtualProm.com only five weeks ago, but it appears that the mini-site has already worked wonders for the company's program called ‘Prom Representative,' a traditionally offline brand.

The program works like this: The retailer gives teen prom reps who sign up at the site an identification number and then offers a 10 percent discount for every referral that produces a tuxedo rental. If the reps bring in 10 referrals, they get a free rental. The referral customers themselves get $20 off of their rental if they provide their prom rep's ID number.

Matt Schow, director of online marketing at Men's Wearhouse, Houston, said the site has resulted in a 689 percent week-over week improvement compared to 2008 for registered prom rep sign ups. "This was a big goal that we were trying to achieve."

Schow pointed out that the mini-site connected social media with local stores. When the rep finishes a permission-based registration, he said, the closest store gets notified that it's gained another lead generator to keep on file. At that juncture, the store contacts the new rep and invites them in to pick up their prom rep materials.

Propane Studio, an independent and interactive design studio based in San Francisco, worked in tandem with Larkspur Hotels & Restaurants to create a website that showcases new applications such as dynamic data-driven flash features, interactive maps, and also user-friendly pages that clearly differentiate between each of Larkspur's three sub-brands. The site, which took nine months to develop, also uses the latest backend framework built in Ruby on Rails technology, giving Larkspur one centralized database allowing them to add additional pages quickly and easily and also to enact online promotions across multiple properties seamlessly.
